Yet another funeral

one of the nice things about coming home after nearly 20 years away is that I get to see family the bad part is that the most common place to see family is at a funeral. Unlike last summer the weather was glorious so we have a couple of hundred people come to lay my Uncle Donny to rest. Everything was pretty straight until one of the grandchildren laid a Hot Wheels car of a 68 Chevelle, exactly like the one Donny drove for nearly 40 years, in the grave. At that point we all were in tears, the car was such a part of his relationship with our whole family, hell he taught me how to do an oil change on it one Xmas when I was 12-13 maybe. Anyway seeing so much of the family I grew up with even on such a somber occasion was such a great time i got to to see cousins that I haven't seen in 2 decades some even live only an hour away. Now that I'm home I can start renewing contacts with so many that I have been unable to see for so long

Emotionally moving artistically engaging
I just finished watching Rising rebuilding Ground Zero. I started watching it for the construction (I have this thing about architecture) but its the Artistry and emotion thats so engaging. Definitely something to set the DVR to record next Sunday Go »awaiting surgery
I went into work yesterday...getting through the security turnstile that has replace the front doors of my building was more effort than I was expecting. The Elevator was not restful and when I finally did get to my office someone stole my heater (my office is so cold in the spring/summer/fall that an electric heater is required or icicles form from your breath (this isn't a joke). since I restarted school music has become a more dominant part of my daily activities. I have used up/worn out a number of pairs of headphones finally inventing in a set of Grado's and a CMoy amp so I can tune out the world while I am in the studio. my taste in music has changed significantly in the last 2 years......while Go »My Suitcase
OK my trip around the Mediterranean sea was pleasant enough, Cyprus would be a great place to visit anytime not in the winter. Less than 20% of the city of Limasol was open, which made doing anything including eating an adventure. Lots of ruins, did anyone know that Cyprus is/was the birthplace of Aphrodite, I didn't. as a retired sailor I really thought nothing of deploying and leaving my wife with the cats and dog at home while I went off to fight wars, fix submarines and otherwise earn a living.......now the shoe is on the other foot. I am in school fulltime taking care of the cats, the dog the house and whatever else pops up while my wife and best friend moves to DC to take her dream job. Go »
