So Lori posted some her newest project update and I felt the need to put in my project.

I'm making a sluff coat, which is a long vest type thing. Everyone here seems to wear one, and I think they are awesome. What I have done now is wearable, but it's not complete. The pics I have are of me in my pajamas (cause there is absolutely no need for a flannel long sleeve chemise in florida) so they aren't the best.

And the pictures I feel don't give it justice. It is basically a long vest, but I added green triangles around the waist that flare to the bottom hem.

This is the first time I've ever tried princess seams, and a collar that is like that. I plan on using one or two of some badass buttons my friend Gina gave me last christmas, so I can close it if I want to at the waist. (That is, if I can find em) The collar also folds back so it's more of a jacket collar. I'll show you in later pictures. I like the double folded fake ass bias tape I made too ( I didn't cut it at that 45 degree angle, but I don't have any curves to go around, so it wasn't too big of a deal) I didn't have a pattern, which the success of this piece helps to fuel my ego towards the fact that I don't ever want to use patterns, and I can make due without them.

Now to finish it, I need to cut off all those annoying threads that I didn't get the first time, and add the biggest part of the piece, which is appliqueing my modified heraldry to it, in white, on the back, with white tree branches reaching across to the front.

Also, I finished the white chemise shirt I was working on before, I don't like it very much, the sleeves are wrong, and I can't really wear it without a belt because it is very very wide. And it bunches too much to wear with this...so I need to figure out a tunic to wear under this.

I"ll show ya better ones when I get better pictures :P

I'm not lining it, though I really want to...it's just too much fabric for florida.

Yeah I didn't want my head or hands in it..but I guess I was too lazy to crop them

I'm impressed. The only items I've attempted without using a pattern have been simple skirts (circle or rectangle, with elastic waists) or Halloween costumes that don't have to hold up well.

The inset triangular pieces (are they called gores?) are especially cool. Please post more photos when you finish.

I'm better now

Outta work, and I went to Cingular and bought a new battery, then went to best buy where my friend who has the same phone as I said he would give me one of his spares... So return the new battery and use old phone, which is better cause it does not have the annoying push to talk feature, which is retarded and gets in the way anyway. Better. Go »

Amusing

So this weekend, which I may blog more about later, had a particular funny spot, I would like to think. As some of you may know, I'm addicted to Brotherhood 2.0, which is a video blog of two brothers. Go »

I hate my job

Today I got kicked in the face, spit on three times, twice it landed in my mouth, plus various kicks, scratches, pinches, attempted bites and more swearing at than I can count. I've been doing this sort of thing, working with behavior kids, for 6 years now. I just can't stand it anymore. Go »

Help me please!

Blech. So, Scott designs websites, using php and whatever the hell, I have no idea, but I'm glad when he helps me cause I don't like all the program-y stuff. I make websites in Dreamweaver, and I make a lot of them. Go »
