Scott Hardie: “It ruled.”
What I heard about this movie in advance was accurate: It's light on plot, mostly a sad character study of a widow surviving a nomadic life in her van, with a strong naturalistic performance by Frances McDormand and some breathtaking shots of the American southwest. The movie didn't affect me terribly deeply, because its insights didn't seem especially deep—yep, nomads sure do have a hard life, and yep, that woman sure does value her independence and miss her husband—but it's a well-made thing of beauty and a pleasure simply to take in.
